Beautiful. What a simple word with so much meaning. The pint size arrangements are full of the very last of the fancy tulips, the sweetly scented dianthus and of course I had to tuck a peony in each. The color palette is super dreamy. Beautiful. Sadly, the extra large bouquets are sold out for this week, but I just restocked the store with these beauties. Link in bio.

Why does making videos feel so awkward? But, I just had to show you the flowers this week. Lemon chiffon and etched salmon peonies plus the stars aligned with the last of the double tulips. So much more too- May flowers are for sure my favorite flowers! PS- don’t mind the chirping in the background there’s a batch of baby bantam chicks hanging out behind me. (I blame the children- they’re always adding more animals to the mix!)

I think my favorite this year is the “pretty purse vase arrangement” I guess I’m a sucker for pink and bleeding hearts and hellebore and of course tulips!

It feels like spring. Everything is lush and full and green. Flowers are blooming. Birds are chirping. The sun feels warm. It feels like perfect timing for Mother’s Day. All the tulips are picked and tucked safely in the cool room for Mother’s Day next weekend. All the options will be available tomorrow evening online. Mother’s Day flowers are always my most favorite and I can not wait!

I disappeared for almost 6 months. It feels like I can’t return. It feels like I’ve let my friends down. No pictures, no emails, no posts, no stories- I can’t help but think I ruined the algorithm. But today is the day I decided to come back. Winter was dark. The flowers disappeared. In all of the empty dark places of winter I stayed. Winter has always been a time of quiet reflection for me. I want to tell you all the things that I learned, all the ways I grew, all the things that I failed at. There is also a part of me that wants to tell you I’m sorry. I’m sorry because all the other people post and all the other people share the stories and all the other people tell you all the new and exciting things to look forward to and I do not have that.

In the dreary darkness of winter, here in Indiana, the flowers do not survive the winter. No colorful blooms no exquisite scents, no ruffles and frills- it has all disappeared. In the winter, the darkness reigns. The seeds that were scattered slowly soften and the enzymes inside begin to activate. The cold snowy days increase the flower promoting signals deep inside each flower bulb. The flower bulbs slowly convert starch to sugar while they wait through the winter to be ready to grow fast and bloom quickly once the warm returns.

The same quiet patterns in nature are the same quiet patterns of my life. The rhythms of nature move through everything.

When the light changes and the warm days return the flowers bloom once again. And so it is with myself -it’s time to share my stories, my flowers, my life - perfectly aligned with the natural rhythm of it all.

It is time to bloom once again.

School is starting this week and the flowers know. I’ve read before that there are two times a year most people make a hard reset -of course January one and then when kids go back to school. Flowers this week are bold and bright and beautiful they are full of rose lilies and lisianthus- hot August flowers but subtly mixed in are oranges and yellows signaling change is almost here…. celebrate change, new starts, new seasons, celebrate the goodness of what was and the goodness of what is to come. It says it’s 92% humidity. Sweaty is an understatement. I’ve never actually been able to wring sweat out of my clothes like a dish rag but today I accomplished that goal. I am super thankful for all the new flowers that are coming in hot this week. The rose lilies are definitely one of my favorites. I added a couple more bouquets to the online shop just in case you missed out.

Hot summer days and hot summer flowers. It’s always super special when the rose lilies (double lilies with no pollen and a perfect not too much but just enough sweet scent) and the plum sunflowers share a bouquet. The online store is open for pre-order and pick up Friday. Link in bio.

“Cuz every little thing is gonna be all right.” There is definitely quite a few moments in my life that do not feel like everything is going to be all right. Rather than wish those moments away or pretend I don’t feel those feelings I find the older I get the more I seek out the moments where everything IS all right. The hot sun felt good on my skin while I was picking flowers this morning. The flowers feel like summer -warm, earthy, high contrast, soft buttery yellow with hot fuchsia. Cutting the flowers arranging them in a bouquet- in that moment, it does feel like everything is going to be all right. The first half of our summer subscriptions are over. A holiday week calls for holiday flowers. The bouquets are an EXPLOSION of color and the pint size arrangements are perfectly themed with red white and blue flowers. Have you seen the flowers for this week? The abundance is overwhelming in the most glorious of ways. I used to think finding balance was about repetition and consistency -about sameness. But that is not how nature does it. My fruit trees are so heavy and full. The branches are nearly breaking. In just a couple of months, the trees will be empty- they’ll sit almost dead and then the process will repeat. The flowers will bloom profusely and then nothing. The rains will fall and then it will be dry. The days will be 100° and quicker than I can blink an eye, snow will be falling. I see people do photo dumps, so here is mine from this last week. You even get a picture of the goats and me! Despite the heat, the flowers are still blooming, there are so many flowers this week! I had full intentions of posting online 1 million more times this week but sunshine and summer and kids and animals and did I mention kids and animals? They seem to be getting the best of me. So here we are. The bouquets perfectly represent the transition from spring to summer. The very last of the peonies, rich burgundy yarrow, my most favorite spicy clove scented double stock, dainty daisy like feverfew, and of course more!
